King Scallop
The Scottish Scallop (Pecten maximus) is fished all around the Scottish coast. The scallops are hand caught by divers who swim down to the seabed to collect them. This is a sustainable and environmentally friendly form of fishing which has a minimal impact on the surrounding marine environment.
As the scallops are hand caught, they contain no sand and are of a high quality. As they are not stressed by the fishing method, they can often survive 3/4 days or more after arrival at destination. The main sizes available are: 1/2 pieces/kg XXL, 2/3 pieces/kg XL, 3/4 pieces/kg L, 4/5 pieces/kg M, 5/7 pieces/kg S.
The Scallops are packed in 5Kg and 10kg polystyrene boxes and each shell is secured with an elastic band. There is an absorbent pad on the bottom of the box to collect any excess moisture and a jay cloth or paper on top of the box to prevent the cool packs from coming in contact with the Scallop.
Exporting live Scottish shellfish daily to France, Spain, Hong Kong and Singapore
MBS Inter Mar Ltd have been exporting live shellfish from Scotland since 1998. Our live products are mainly creel or diver caught in the waters off the West Coast of Scotland.
These 2 methods of fishing are internationally recognised as the most responsible way of fishing as it does not affect the surrounding habitat. Once caught, the product is carefully graded and conditioned for transport to ensure that the best quality is received by our customers.
For road freight, we have daily dispatches to Boulogne-Sur-Mer, with onward connections to the rest of France and Spain. For air freight, we have two dispatches per day to Hong Kong and Singapore and daily services to Barcelona, Madrid and Oporto.
Please note that there is a minimum order of 80kg for air freight orders.
May 2018 Report
